Fur For Animals Awards 2018

The fur trade is cruel and unnecessary, killing tens of millions of innocent, beautiful animals every year. It is also a multi-billion dollar a year global industry. To counter them, Respect for Animals is pleased to announce this year’s student design competition.

The brief asks talented creatives to submit guerrilla, viral content for the anti-fur campaign, under the branding ‘Fur For Animals’.

If this inspires you to use your skills to help change the world and save animals, then we’d love you to take part.

The Problem.

The international fur trade has thrived over recent years, with an increase in demand for fur in Russia and China.

This is a disaster. Record numbers of animals are now being killed annually to meet global demand.

The international fur trade boasts that it spends more than £10 million a year on promotion, lobbying and public relations. We have to deal with this but we are David to the fur trade's Goliath.

The Brief.

To produce engaging content that can be used as a viral 'anti-fur' campaign. It should aim to raise the issue of fur in fashion and why those who wear real fur and those involved in defending/promoting the fur trade have the blood of the animals on their hands.

The Solution.

We cannot compete with the fur trade in print advertising but with new media we are able to get over a strong story and consumer messages by viral marketing and cost effective targeted campaigns.

The Ask.

Being a small animal welfare organisation we are hoping that, should you be interested in helping with this idea and work with us pro-bono, there is a potential great synergy in us working together to create something effective, innovative and special.

Charities such as Respect for Animals often have small budgets, so please think about what can belearned from successful campaigns such as the Ice Bucket Challenge, and how to activate a massive online audience without big media spends.

The horror of the fur trade.

Respect for Animals has worked hard over the years to gain undercover footage, which documents the cruelty behind the fur trade.

There is a large amount of undercover footage and photography which documents the reality of fur factory farms. Click this link to view recent examples of this from Europe.

Our past campaigns.

In the past, Respect for Animals has worked at a consumer level very effectively, producing award-winning campaign material with world-renowned artists such as David Bailey.

We WILL be making one of these campaigns a reality.

This isn't a 'Dumb Animals 2018'. This is a fresh, new campaign for a new digital world. Be bold, be brave, but realisitic.
